Abu Dhabi, July 4, 2022 (WAM) – His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has led the restructuring of social security programs for low-income citizens in an integrated program worth AED28 billion instead of AED 14 billion.

The decision aims to increase the annual social assistance allowance from AED 2.7 billion to AED 5 billion.

His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed’s directive embodies his desire to support low-income Emirati families to ensure family and social stability and to provide a decent life to their citizens.

Under the auspices of the Ministry of Community Development, the scheme covers various social aspects for low-income national households, including head allowance, wife allowance and child allowance. In addition to temporary financial assistance for unemployed job seekers and unemployed people over the age of 45, the program covers financial assistance for housing and other basic needs such as food, water, electricity and fuel.

Introduction of new allowances: In detail, the program has introduced four new allowances: housing allowance, university study allowance, allowance for unemployed persons above 45 years of age and allowance for unemployed claimants. Employment.

– Housing Allowance The new program includes housing allowance between AED 1,500 and AED 2,500 per month until the family receives public housing.

Applicants who live with their parents or any other family are entitled to 60% of this amount. This allowance does not apply to those who receive housing assistance from the government or who own a home registered in their name. Beneficiaries will stop receiving this allowance once they acquire public housing.

– University Study Allowance A stipend of AED 3,200 per month will be allocated for outstanding high school students enrolled in university studies (as required by the Board of Education and Human Resources).

The allowance also includes students enrolled in degree and university education activities according to the children’s allowance for each family up to the age of 25 (between AED 2,400 and AED 800).

– Allowances for the unemployed over the age of 45 This is a new financial grant of the Social Security program, where a fixed grant of AED 2000 to AED 5000 per month is given depending on the age of the unemployed.

– Allowance for unemployed job seekers This allowance is extended for a period of six months and amounts to AED 5,000 per month for each beneficiary irrespective of age.

– Increase Allowances The Social Security Program has made a point of increasing the allowances paid to all family members, including three current allowances: Allowances for the head of the household, wife and children.

– Increases household head allowance based on years of experience This allowance starts at AED 5,000 per month and is then increased to AED 2,000 per month for 10 years of work experience until he reaches AED 13,000.

Although heads of households between the ages of 21 and 30 receive an amount of AED5,000 per month, and allowances increase for those aged 30 to 40 to reach 7,000 AEDs, and the age group 40 to 50 years is 9,000 AEDs, and 50 to 60 years Ages reach 11,000 AEDs, and the highest is 60 years of age, amounting to 13,000 AEDs per month.

– Wife’s Allowance To increase the social support available to low-income families, the new social welfare scheme plans to increase the wife’s allowance to AED 3,500.

– The Child Allowance Social Security program includes increasing the child allowance to 2,400 AED per month for the first child, 1,600 AED per month for the second and third child and 800 AED for the fourth child or more, and it will be provided until the age of 21.

– Inflation Allowance This program includes three types of allowances: food, electricity and water and fuel subsidies.

– Food Supplement Allowance Under this initiative, the government covers 75% of food inflation, as a pledge to provide necessary assistance to Emirati families to meet their basic needs and enable them to lead a decent life.

– 50% subsidy for electricity and water.

The welfare program provides 50% monthly subsidy for electricity consumption below 4,000 kW and 50% monthly water subsidy for water use below 26,000 gallons.

– Fuel Subsidy This program provides 85% monthly subsidy on fuel price increase above AED 2.1 per liter. The head of the household receives a monthly subsidy of 300 liters, while the working woman receives an additional 200 liters of subsidy. At this time, the head of the family receives a subsidy of 400 liters if the woman does not get support.
